Today the Plaza sits in a Historic Overlay District, and is home to a diverse and vibrant community, locally owned businesses, community amenities, and fine dining. History

 How Lake Anne Came to Be

Reston was founded in 1963 is named for its founder Robert E. Simon, Jr.(RESton). An important part of Reston’s conception was planning for seven village centers (though only five were ultimately built) and one town center. Lake Anne Plaza was the first village center constructed, and is the historic heart of Reston.

Lake Anne Plaza is host to many great events throughout the year. From our weekly seasonal farmers and craft markets, to events such as art and food festivals, community yoga and fitness classes, a cardboard boat regatta, and our annual jazz and roots music festivals, there is something for everyone at Lake Anne!
